The Italian musical instrument maker IK Multimedia has developed a wearable device “Safe Spacer” for keeping social distance against COVID-19. It is intended for use in factories, warehouses, offices, etc.
The Safe Spacer is equipped with a UWB (Ultra Wideband) chip, a wireless technology with high positioning accuracy, which is also used in the iPhone 11. When another Safe Spacer approaches within 6 feet, it will warn you with vibration, light and sound.
There is also a function to predict and warn the movement of people approaching within 6 feet by machine learning.
It can be attached to wristbands, straps and key chains. It is waterproof and can be cleaned and disinfected with liquid spray and ultraviolet rays.
IK Multimedia develops and manufactures DTM MIDI keyboards, microphones, guitar audio interfaces, and monitor microphones. The plant is located in Italy, where many patients with coronavirus infections have occurred, and they developed the Safe Spacer based on their own needs. Scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2020 for €99.
